Denmark packaging EPR 2026 — obligations, registration and the collective schemes
Denmark has no statutory packaging EPR tariff — the scheme started on 2025-10-01 and prices are agreed with competing collective schemes (2026).
How fees are set
Collective schemes (market-negotiated) — Competing collective compliance schemes registered with Dansk Producentansvar (DPA), the national producer responsibility authority; producer responsibility for packaging took effect on 2025-10-01 and producers register in the national producer register run by DPA.
Denmark has no statutory packaging EPR tariff. Producer responsibility for packaging took effect on 1 October 2025, among the last in the EU to start, and the obligations are registration in the national producer register, reporting the packaging placed on the Danish market each year, and arranging for the packaging to be handled. Handling is arranged through a collective scheme, and the schemes set their own prices in contract rather than following a published tariff. This site therefore lists no per-kg rate rows for Denmark: the Danish facts it can carry are the registration side and the directory of collective schemes below.

Obligations under the Danish scheme
Producer responsibility for packaging took effect in Denmark on 1 October 2025, which makes it one of the last packaging EPR schemes in the EU to start operating. A company subject to it must register in the national producer register before selling products in Denmark, and must then submit an annual report on the quantities of packaging it placed on the Danish market. Whether the responsibility falls on a given company depends on the type of packaging and on its role in the value chain, and Dansk Producentansvar publishes both an overview of who is covered and a test for whether a given product counts as packaging. A company that is unsure can also ask DPA for a formal determination of whether it or its products are covered.
Registration with Dansk Producentansvar
Dansk Producentansvar (DPA) runs the national producer register and is the authority a producer deals with, separately from whichever collective scheme it contracts with. Producers established outside Denmark act through an authorised representative. Registration is not free: DPA states that the statutory costs of producer responsibility consist of a one-off registration fee and an annual fee based on the quantity reported. The exact amounts for 2026 are set out on DPA's own costs page and are not reproduced here. Existing registrations can be looked up in DPA's public register search.
How prices are set — and why this page carries no rate table
There is no published statutory tariff to cite. Each collective scheme sets its own prices per material and quotes them in a contract, so the price for identical packaging differs between schemes and moves during the year. Because the Danish scheme only started in October 2025, the market is also younger than the German one: several of the schemes registered for packaging entered within the last two years, and prices have not settled into a stable published pattern. That is why this site publishes per-kg rate rows for the countries with a statutory tariff and none for Denmark: a single scheme's quote is not the Danish rate, and presenting it as one would misstate the mechanism. Separately from the scheme price, the statutory DPA fees described above are payable to the authority regardless of which scheme is chosen.
Collective schemes handling packaging in Denmark
Dansk Producentansvar publishes the collective schemes operating in Denmark and the waste streams each of them covers. The directory below reproduces the entries that cover packaging — legal name and official website only. Prices are not reproduced here: they are quoted by the schemes themselves and are not comparable between schemes without the contract terms. Several of these schemes also cover single-use plastic and fishing gear, and some cover electronics, batteries or vehicles as well, so the scheme a company already uses for another stream may or may not be registered for packaging. Each entry was checked against the DPA list on the date shown.

Where to go next
Registration is done with Dansk Producentansvar, and an existing registration — a supplier's or a marketplace seller's — is looked up in DPA's public register search. If it is unclear whether a product counts as packaging or whether the responsibility falls on your company, DPA runs a self-test and will issue a formal determination on request. Prices come from the collective schemes themselves, quoted on request through the contact routes on their own sites in the directory above.
