How fees are set

Ecobatterien — The only approved battery eco-organisation in Luxembourg; membership is compulsory for producers of portable and automotive batteries, optional (against individual approval) for industrial and electric-vehicle batteries.

Ecobatterien is the single approved battery eco-organisation in Luxembourg, continuing the country's pattern of one scheme per waste stream. Its 2026 tariff is unusual in two ways. First, it publishes amounts including VAT and per piece, where almost every other scheme in this dataset publishes excluding VAT, so the figures are not directly comparable without adjusting. Second, it splits every portable and industrial line twice over: once for batteries sold separately and once for batteries built into appliances, at identical amounts, and then again by whether the contribution is 'all in' — collection, treatment and reporting — or 'mutualisée', which covers collection and treatment only at certain collection points. Lead batteries carry a published contribution of zero in every category except household storage, reflecting the positive scrap value of lead. Producers also pay a flat annual membership fee scaled to the recycling contributions due; members of the Luxembourg Confederation, the Fédération des Artisans or Fedil are exempt from it. Declarations are quarterly above 250 EUR of annual contribution and annual below it.
